As most plans of last year, many have been changed and altered. Somehow, this one wedding of mine withstood the vivid improvising and change making and took place almost as planned. Constantly expecting this message from my couple that they would postpone; the mail never came. Instead came a wedding day schedule and guess what? Soft rays of winter sun to brighten up our day.

I remember driving to the first look location and coming down the hills overlooking the valley where Stuttgart is (situated) and seeing it all held in the mist. Often when driving and the light or weather changes, I am on the lookout to get off the road and photograph those moments. And this time I found a bus stop to park just on the edge of the hills. It was my personal moment of cloud-bliss.

After a first look in the middle of an orchard we drove on to a small town nearby. Waiblingen is filled to the brim with historic timbered buildings. A couple of wedding seasons ago I shot the warmest wedding in this cute town. This time, our backdrop was quite different. More on the fresh side of the seasons we walked among the colorful late fall trees.

Under the colorful tree we wanted to shoot some wide-angle portraits, sat an old couple on a bench. Both their faces were directed to the sun and as they saw us approaching, they congratulated my couple adding, do it like us, we were married over five decades ago, and we love being able to share those days now. It was like they were in their own bubble of content. Nestled close together on this bench, soaking in the sunlight. I took it as the best tree we could have steered to for our portraits.;)

The church near the Erleninsel, where we shot, made the most perfect backdrop for the soft sun to lighten up! I mean nothing could make me happier than those colors. You will see it for yourself! Anja so beautifully lit from behind is just what I was going for.

Anja & Daniel, thank you so very much for booking me and for entrusting me with your wedding day memories! It was an honor! Thank you so very much for booking me and trusting me with the winter light and enduring the small wait between the locations. I am sooo glad you enjoyed the surprise!

      Yours, Rici.
