Hello Friend,
what a year is behind us! Nothing short of excitement and new adventures! And finally the world slows to a season of slow and connection. This year I look forward to unwinding and tranquility. It is my hope that you are surrounded by love ones and peace.
This advent as many before I have look for Ann Voskamp’s words every morning to begin my devotion. To sit still, ponder and wait, to write and be grateful. Once again I loved her words.
“Joy is a function of gratitude, and gratitude is a function of perspective. You only begin to change your life when you begin to change the way you see. (…) and the Lord draws near to Samuel: “The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
(…)
The reality is, you can loose your life, your joy if you are beguiled by the world’s rind and blind to its inner reality. (…) People aren’t bodies; they are hearts. We could train our eyes to turn everything inside out.” (The Greatest Gift)
I love her perspective on seeing and seeing beyond. As a photographer I am often focusing on the outward, but I love the stories on the inside even more. Sadly looking on screens and apps increasingly can diminish our perspective on the inner world. It is my own challenge and desire to turn inside and “up-side” to God for this festive season.
And I am curious what those days will hold.
I hope and pray you get to stand in silent admiration of the greatest miracle of them all.
Merry Christmas to you!
