I don´t feel ready.

But it is finally happening. Maybe I have pinned one to many “just do it”, “follow your dreams” motivational image on Pinterest… swinging constantly back and forth between happy excitement and deep fear but new things are finally happening.

What is happening you may ask?

For two years now I have been referring to my secret / new project and silently laboured towards a new goal I did not know I could reach. Ever since I finished my bachelor degree four years ago I wanted to continue with a master degree. Just not in this country… so for a while there I thought it would never happen. Planning wedding season after season, and applying to universities in the UK. But this year it did happen and I got two places offered. One in the south of England and one in Edinburgh.

So from September on I will be a student again, and I cannot wait. Having declared myself a student for life on several occasions I was growing hungry to get some solid eduction into my head. I know, before long I will probably whine about workload and all. Wish me luck…

I can see some questions forming in your mind right now and I will attempt to answer them. If I miss one, drop me a line and I will get to it. 😉

Which city did you pick and what will you study?

I picked Edinburgh for the master of Film Studies.

How long will you be away and what is happening to the studio in Stuttgart?

The master will be for one year. Jan and I will continue to work together, but how the future of the studio (the location in Stuttgart-Vaihingen) will be, we are not quite certain yet. But I will try to keep you up to date. The good thing with photography is I can really work anywhere with a camera and a decent laptop. 😉

Does the film master mean you will give up your photography?

No, not in the least. I will continue shooting weddings, in fact I will still be doing this at least twice during that year. I still love photography very much and I cannot imagine putting my camera down. But it certainly means I will explore into a new field (which is still slightly connected to photography).

Why did you pick film for the master?

This is a really good question and I am not sure I can really answer it. But I remember some months ago that I journaled, find out what to do with that passion for film. It seems as if film has sneaked itself into my hobbies quietly. I started analysing settings, speech, characters, photography, design, wit and power relations in movies. Somewhere along the line I also found out that not all of my roomies and friends (poor them) are so keen on watching and then lengthily analysing movies. So I decided to venture into this new interest and find out more about it, and why I am intrigued. I think on of the main motivations is the  fascination of story telling on a bigger scale. And many more thoughts, which might follow in another post.

Are you still taking on jobs in Stuttgart?

Yes, I will still be taking on small jobs in Stuttgart for the last week of August and first week of September. But write quick, bookings are almost full.

Isn’t Scotland the opposite direction from Italia?

Actually that is true, haha…Wish me luck! I am bringing all the warm clothes I own, have eaten shortbread cookies as if it were the true preparation for living there and my Mamma has kindly lend me her rain jacket. Since I do not own one, I know gasp! You need it more than I do she almost said. (while dramatic music played) 😉

      So what do you think?

Do you have more questions? I would love to read them below!

And for now I wish you a wonderful, great, lovely new week. May it be filled with dreams that equally give you the heebie jeebies and happy dancing feet.
